Start with Black and Nude as Your Foundation
Start your investment bag & shoe collection by buying foundational colors Black and Nude. These are good neutral colors that will easily go with anything and everything.
For shoes, invest in a pair of Heels, Boots and Flats. That’ll give you a nice range for work, casual & night-out.
For bags, start with a Tote or Satchel. These silhouettes are chic yet practical everyday bags. Next, invest in an fabulous evening clutch. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve grabbed my go-to YSL black evening clutch. Worth its weight in gold!

They are there to protect your bags & shoes from dirt and from inadvertently scuffing against other items in your closet. It’ll protect the beautiful hardware on your bags, and protect any embellishments on shoes!!
If you have the room, KEEP the shoe box. It’s another layer of protection. To save space, keep 2 pairs of shoes in the same box – in their respective duster bags.
I also like to label each box, with what shoes are in them. This makes it very easy to quickly ID what’s what, without having to dig through boxes ;-). You could also take a quick pic of the shoes & tape it to the box for a visual. I’m not that fancy.
