A Bright Pink Smoothie Bowl just makes me HAPPY!!
Ever wander through the produce section, scrunch your nose and think, “What are those weird looking dark pink fruits? Ok – maybe it’s just me. Apparently they’re called Dragon Fruit, which I had heard of prior (they’re common in Asia) but since I wasn’t quite sure about them – I kept on walkin’. I mean let’s be real – they ARE a lil’ intimidating, if one can actually be intimidated by a fruit.
What you’ll need for your Dragon-Fruit Smoothie Bowl:
Great for Skin & Body
They’re actually deelish AND easy to eat! Just cut ’em in half, scoop out the flesh just like an avocado – and eat! They taste most similar to a Kiwi, and are packed with Fiber and potent Anti-Oxidants like Vitamin C – they are a GREAT Glowing SkinFood!!
Fiber + Anti-Oxidants, Dragon Fruit is great for our Skin & Bod! Let’s whip up a lil’ Smoothie Bowl, shall we?
Maca Root = Energy Boost & Sex Drive. You’re welcome.
I put a Triple dose in Oliver’s Smoothie Bowl 😉
Maca Root isn’t something I normally keep around the house, but after reading that it’s supposed to be great for the ole libido – I ordered a 5-lb bag and stuffed Oliver’s Dragon-Fruit smoothie with a triple dose of the stuff. Ummm, yeah – I think you’ll appreciate Maca root. Just sayin’.
Anyhoo – you DO want to use it sparingly because it has a toasty, earthy flavor profile which is totally fine in small doses (I put 1 tsp in the smoothie bowl and could barely detect it), but may be a little off-putting if you go much more. Maca Root Powder is also thought to boost Energy & Endurance, which makes it GREAT to put into a morning Smoothie!
RECIPE! Note – this is the Frozen Dragon Fruit I buy. It is WAY overpriced online so…. get it at the grocery.

About the Frozen Dragon Fruit
You’ll find it in the frozen food section of the grocery. It comes in individually wrapped single-serve packages, just like the ACAI for our Acai-Bowls. Be SURE that it is unsweetened, no additives. It’s easy to use. Just unwrap and throw it in the VitaMix or High-Powered blender.
I daresay, with summer (what summer??) coming to an end – this may be my last Smoothie recipe of the year. Maybe…..
Try it!
