It’s F-ing Majik, People!….BLUE Majik that is!

Wellness |

It’s the color of a 7-11 Blueberry Slurpee, or so I’ve heard…. but BLUE MAJIK is a spirulina, nutrient-rich powerhouse to add to your Wellness Arsenal.

Wellness Alert! I’ve got a little Majik for Ya

Have you guys tried Blue Majik?  You can’t log into Instagram or pick up a healthy eating magazine without seeing a beautifully colored smoothie, latte or other concoction with the gorgeous vibrant blue color of a 7-11 blueberry slurpee. Lol.

That beautiful – almost fake looking blue color is Blue Majik – a form of microalgae spirulina in powdered form with this amazingly vibrant blue color that looks like cotton candy –  EXCEPT – it’s a nutrient rich POWERHOUSE!

Yes, we usually think of algae as being green, but Blue Majik is a proprietary extract of the blue green algae Arthrospira Platensis. It gets its gorgeous blue color from C-phycocyanin, a type of storage protein that is rich in amino acids.

It’s super fun to try in recipes and just makes you smile!  ;-). It comes in straight powder form or capsules (both forms pictured). I use the straight powder.

Side Note:  Talk to your doctor before trying any new supplement, especially if you’re pregnant or nursing.

Why we love BLUE MAJIK :

+ Nutrient dense, full of vitamins (especially B12)

+ Rich in Amino Acids + Anti-Oxidants

+ Rich in Protein, Enzymes + Minerals

+ Helps build strong bones, teeth, skin + hair.

+ Anti-Inflammatory properties

+ Assists in flushing out Toxins

? SIMPLY STIR A SCOOP INTO Smoothies, Smoothie Bowls, Lattes, Mixed into cream cheese & spread on seed bread, in Sour Cream with lox & cucumbers on crackers – lots of fun things & oh so healthy!

Like fish-food meets cat-food

So, of course the first thing I do when my Blue Majik arrives is to open it, smell it – then stick my finger in the jar to taste it.  What can I say, I’ve always been nosey that way.  Just dive on in & see what’s what.  It smells like a cross between fish-food and cat-food.  It’s not overwhelming, just kina weird.  It tastes like it smells.  A very light fishy taste but not so bad that you’re going to hurl or anything.  But don’t worry – the flavor is easily masked. I just like to give you a heads-up.

You only use a small scoop, which looks to be the equivalent of about ½ a tsp and like I said, the flavor can be easily masked in Smoothies, Lattes and my Chia-Seed Pudding recipe below.  For the nutritional properties given by BM (Blue Majik) – it’s totally worth it. IMO of course.

Plus – the color is so pretty, it’s just fun to incorporate it into your diet a couple time a week.  Side note – it’s fun to use BM in lattes or appetizers for guests.  It’s such an unexpected color, it always gets an “oh wow!!” In a good way.  I think.

A great product for your Wellness Arsenal!

There are so many amazingly good things we can do for our health and well-being, whether it’s Bee Pollen, Matcha Tea, Peanut Butter Protein, or Blue Majik – it’s fun to try new things and figure out what works best for you, and integrates best into your own lifestyle!

Chez Pelly, we keep all of these Wellness Tools in our pantry and yes, I do personally use them everyday (or just about): I use Peanut Butter Powder in my after-gym shake, Matcha for morning latte’s and the Blue Majik in Chia Seed Pudding as a before-bed snack. Our favorite use of the Bee Pollen, is in this amazing homemade granola! It’s delicious on a smoothie bowl or just on it’s own!

Now Let’s Try it!

Blue Majik is yummy in these recipes.  Try a couple!

Make-ahead Chia-Seed Pudding

Whip up a bowl of Chia-Seed Pudding with Blue Majik, add a few goodies on top and BOOM! Healthy-stuff in a bowl.  Enjoy it as a healthy breakfast, snack or even a before-bed snack.  The chia seeds need time to absorb the milk, so this is a make-ahead dish.  I usually whip it up in the AM and let it sit in the fridge all day, for a bedtime snack.

In a bowl, MIX together….

+2 TB Chia Seeds

+3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Instructions:

Let the mixture sit in the fridge overnight or a few hours, until the chia seeds absorb the almond milk. Take out of fridge.

TOP with:  Unsweetened Shredded Coconut + Fresh Blueberries, Dried Gogi Berries, Raw Almonds.
