HI SHELLI – I LOVE ALL YOUR BEAUTY POSTS & RECOMMENDATIONS!  WHAT DO YOU USUALLY DO FOR MANICURES? ARE YOU A FAN OF REGULAR POLISH OR DO YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE GEL?

Good question!  Because I’m so hard on my hands, regular nail polish chips in less than 2 days on me.  No Bueno & wastes my time! So, I’m a gel-overlay girl.  Sometimes I go to the nail salon by my house, other times I have a mobile manicurist come to the house in the interest of time – this let’s me multi-task & get a ton of work done.

I also use the AMPOE ELECTRIC FOOT FILE, a few nights a week in between pedicures.  Inexpensive and literally sandblasts dry, gross, dead flakey skin off of heels & feet leaving them smooth and soft.  Then I apply a heavy moisturizer to the feet and stick them in fuzzy socks for the night ;-).  Keeps feet pretty & soft in between pedi’s.

HI SHELLI.  I KNOW YOU ARE ALL ABOUT SKIN CARE, SO I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT YOU’D SUGGEST TO GET RID OF BROWN SPOTS & SUN DAMAGE??  I NEED HELP.

Ok yes – great question.  First line of defense is always SPF 30+, sunhat and sunglasses when in the direct sun.  BUT to address existing hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and sun damage which usually shows itself in the form of fine lines & wrinkles and a less-than-baby-smooth overall texture, I’d recommend looking into the HALO Skin-Laser which I personally had done 6 weeks ago.  It’s the hottest skin-laser on the market right now, and is meant to address hyperpigmentation, fine lines – and more.  Hope this helps!

Hope this helps!

HI – I WAS JUST WONDERING IF YOU EAT A SPECIFIC DIET LIKE PALEO OR GLUTEN-FREE OR VEGAN?

Thanks for asking!  You know, I’ve never been a big fan of any particular type of mass-marketed commercial diet or style of eating, like Vegan, Gluten-Free, Paleo, Keto etc., (unless of course there’s an allergy or medical reason, obvi.)  I just eat what I like, which tends to be mostly whole, fresh foods.  I like leafy greens, fresh fruits, dairy, lean meats including a good steak every once in a while – but I’m just mindful of my portions.  Read more about my diet here….

Hi Shelli 🙂
What’s your feedback on online dating? It wasn’t a “thing” years ago when I was single. Now that I’m about to be single again & everyone is ready to create me a dating profile 🤦🏼‍♀️….I’m not sure about it. I’m definitely not ready to date just yet but When I am…. where the heck do you meet a “good guy”🤔

I totally hear ya!  A LONG time ago, online dating was considered “weird.”  Not anymore – and honestly, think of it like being in sales.  Good sales people create opportunities by prospecting and vetting potential new-business from a variety of different avenues and sources.  It’s like a pizza – it takes slices to make up the whole (on-line dating + joining activities or groups + putting a bug in friends ears, etc).

I TOTALLY DID ONLINE DATING!  Oliver and I were broken up at the time, and being my usual scrappy self – I posted a profile on 2 online dating sites faster than you could say “Date Me” lol.   BUT – here were my basic rules:  1) Any first date was “Coffee only” in the afternoon.  This gave me an easy out, if I wanted to wrap it up.  2) If we dated past that, I usually met him at the restaurant or whatever – just to be smart about it. 3) I had my non-negotiables in place ( Dating Blueprint) so I knew when to cut-bait.  AND I DID IT FAST – no time wasting.  One guy was disrespectful on a 3rd date (like, getting rude) and no joke – I got up and left.  No bullshit allowed!  FINAL ADVICE – just start putting yourself out there WHEN you are ready.  Go into it with an open mind and just enjoy the process.  It’s more about telling the Universe that you are ready for new and amazing things!

Hi Shelli! Let me start out by saying that I really love the Hello Summer meal plan you’ve created and my husband and I have been eating the meals from it all week – PS we had the fajitas last night and they were incredible AND he has leftovers for lunch today 🙂

Anyway – what do you recommend for healthy orders when you eat out at restaurants? I love cooking at home but sometimes you need a date night out of the house! Let me know your go-to’s 🙂 Thanks!

Thank you so much!  I’m happy to hear that you love Hello Summer –  the fajitas are one of my favorites too!  I totally get the date-night thing – I love to cook at home as well, but date-nights are a fun time to reconnect!  A COUPLE SUGGESTIONS:  Before going out have a “little something” healthy at the house (like a small snack).  That way you’re not STARVING by the time you get to the restaurant & polish off the entire bread basket.  Plus butter ;-/.  (I’ve totally done that).  It also helps in making healthier choices because you’re not so hungry.   Second, choose menu items without bread, rice or pasta.  Always grilled or baked – not fried.  Ask the server to sub-out rice with more veggies, potatoes for fresh fruit, etc.  Sauces are usually laden with fat & calories.  Ask for no sauce, or at least on-the-side and have just a little smidge if you’re really craving. a taste!  Sushi – I love protein rolls (no rice) which are delicious.  If I really want a roll with rice, avoid the ones with fried ingredients or slathered in sauce.  If we are out someplace “fancy” like our favorite steak-house, I order lobster tail and grilled asparagus.  Lobster has 28g of protein in a 6-oz serving AND it’s decadent and delicious so it doesn’t feel like I’m being a total buzzkill.  No butter or at least on the side, just be mindful.  Other options – white fish, grilled or baked.  Steak – a lean cut without sauces or toppings & fresh veggies.  Appetizers – I generally don’t, but will sometimes order a green salad with a balsamic or vinaigrette on the side, or oysters on the half-shell, sashimi – just something healthy and protein-y.  It’s still delicious, and it flat out makes you feel good – not heavy and tired.  Desserts.  Ugh.  My downfall.  So….generally no.  If I’ve had a couple martini’s – I end up ordering dessert ;-/  Oliver’s in charge of removing the plate from under my face after a couple bites – ha ;-). Hope this is helpful!
