Work it Girl! From the Maxi and Knit Tanks to Chunky Sneakers – these are chic & easy summer pieces we can ALL wear!

Becky with the Good Hair

You know those big lists of Fashion Trends that we glance at each season, thinking – “OMG that is awful! LOL!!!!” Or it’s super cute….for someone else. Here’s what I’ve come to know for certain about fashion and trends: Just because it’s in style – doesn’t mean you should wear it. The key is identifying the trends that work for your body and your personal style! Your personal style is an authentic extension of who you are.

For example….. I have a really good friend, Becky. Becky has great hair. Becky with the good hair looks ahhh-mazing in anything funky, Bo-Ho hippy-chic and fringe-related. It’s totally her authentic personal style, and because of that – she completely owns it. Whereas I would look as though I’d been smoking something for a very, very, VERY long time. I jest. Sort of. Point is, try new things – get out of your comfort zone a little, but ultimately do and wear what makes you feel totally comfortable and at peace in your own skin 😉

Choose trends that work best on your body and reflect your own unique personal style!

Chic Trends Everyone Can Wear

There are tons of great trends this Summer season – but I’ve taken the liberty of narrowing it down to trends that pretty much anyone can wear and look amazing! Plus, suggestions on how to style them. In the end – wear what you love and make it your own. You know what I always say….. You’re the boss of you!

MAXI DRESS

“One and done” easy summer style

Always effortlessly cool – the Maxi is one of the most wearable fashion trends ever.  Straight up.  Whether you’re petite like me, tall, slim, full-figured, flat-chested or big busted – there is a maxi-style to flatter literally every body at every price point!   I love the “one and done” ease.

Just throw it on with a pair of nude sandals or dress it up with wedges, hair sleeked into a low messy bun, chandelier earrings, a swipe of shimmery gloss and a straw clutch for summer evenings. Or pair them with fresh chunky sneakers (another Trend I love), easy Tote and a straw bucket hat for effortless daytime chic but casual.

Shop the Look:

+ V-Neck Jersey Maxi Dress

+ Eric Javits Braided Hat (with UPF 50+ sun protection!)

+ Tory Burch Sandal

+ Bobbi Brown Lip in “Coral Pop”

+ Twilly by Hermes, Eau de Parfum

WIDE-LEG PANTS

Relaxed cool. Pair with Knit Tank & Wedges

I love my skinnies as much as the next gal, but frankly – I’m kinda over them.  Especially in the summer when the last thing we want is to be suffocated by tight skinnies in 80-degree heat.  Blech.  Chic, cool & relaxed wide-leg trousers are IT!!

I love them cropped to the ankle or a little above (wear the length that is most flattering on you). Get them in white denim, hot coral, fuchsia, royal blue – or any fun summer color with a white muscle t-shirt, knit tank or even a button-up tied off at the waist.

This is a super versatile pant, and can be worn with wedges, sandals or even chunky sneakers (another summer Trend!) depending on the look and vibe you want for the day.

Relaxed & easy. Not me, the pant. I paired with wedges, white muscle tank and a delicious piece of arm-candy. 😉

KNIT TANK

Totally affordable “must-have” summer basic

Flattering, easy to wear and works perfectly with literally everything from a wide-leg pant, skinny crops, pencil or maxi skirt – relaxed denim shorts, everything!   I like pairing with wide-legged denim, trousers or track pants.  It’s a nice balance of slim and fitted on top, billowy, relaxed & easy on the bottom.

This is one of the most versatile, year-round styles ever! Perfect on its own, under a suit jacket for work, leather jacket for a fun twist. Plus let’s not forget that it’s such an affordable basic – you can get as many colors as you like.

Be sure to try them in prints, solids, stripes – whatever you like, to easily change the look of pretty much anything you wear. A combination of brights and neutrals will give you a ton of options. A bright knit tank will add a fresh pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit – oh, and it usually looks great with a summer tan. So there’s that.

EXTRA CHUNKY SNEAKERS + PUFF SLEEVE TOPS

FIRST – THE SNEAKERS!! In case you were interested….. all-things-1990’s has been back “IN” since 2018, which means some of us pretty much never went out of style. Case in point, chunky “dad sneakers” (translation – way comfortable) are totally IN again! Honestly, I’d wear them anyway.  You’ll see an iteration of them in every high-end designer brand, some of them priced well over $1,000. Gulp.  I am LOVING this trend.  Aside from the comfort level, I personally love a look with a nod to Sporty Spice 😉

Wear them with everything from a maxi, cropped white jeans, wide-legged pants, a summer suit  – pretty much anything.  Aside from just being comfortable – it gives most anything you wear a fun & interesting twist!

PUFF SLEEVES! Truth – I love my glam, but I’ve never been into ruffles, frills, florals or anything overly princess-y.  It’s just not my gig.  The exception is the PUFF SLEEVE which I actually love – especially for summer when everything just feels lighter, airier, more relaxed and fun. The PUFF SLEEVE adds an extra element of flirty femininity!
