Beauty Oils for Glowing Skin. Cruelty-Free!

If you haven’t yet integrated Beauty Oils into your daily skincare routine – you will totally want to after reading this!  It is one of the best things you can do for your skin, and there isn’t a more decadent, luxurious beauty product that will give you the lit from within glow that Beauty Oils provide.

Short-term, your skin will have a dewier, more luminous glow.
Long-term, it’ll look smoother, healthier & more hydrated overall.

Depending upon the composition of the oils in the product you choose, Beauty Oils are known to address a wide range of skin issues from dryness, aging, acne, loss of elasticity and inflammation.  You’ll want to choose one that address your specific skincare needs…. Oh, and if you live in an area where winter causes dry, irritated, lackluster skin – you most definitely want to incorporate a Beauty Oil into your Winter Routine.

love the calming, healing sense of well-being brought about by the intoxicating scents that occur naturally in these oils….think rosehip, argan, essential seed oils and botanicals, rosemary,  eucalyptus extracts…ahhhh….. It feels like liquid silk just melting into every dry, agitated crevice of your skin, bringing soothing, calm, hydrating goodness.

How to Use Beauty Oils

Cleanse your skin, lightly pat dry leaving a touch of moisture. Rub a few drops of oil between palms then massage all over face, neck, chest and backs of hands. Let it soak in while getting dressed or brushing teeth. Continue with your regular skin care products and makeup as usual.

Most brands recommend using in the AM and PM, which is what I do (see my routine below).  While others recommend PM only, like Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery.  You’ll want to make sure to read then follow the brands instructions for best results!

5 CRUELTY-FREE BEAUTY OILS

Here’s the deal…. There are great products at every price point, and every woman deserves to invest in herself and feel beautiful.  That’s why I truly focus on bringing you high-quality, reputable products that range from affordable to splurge.  If you’re not ready to deep dive – most of these have mini versions so you can try it first, before buying a full-size.

Note: All of these amazing products are labeled Cruelty-Free by each respective brand. Paraphrasing Wikipedia, Cruelty-free cosmetics have not been tested on animals. That being said, the FDA has not approved a legal definition that binds this term to a certain set of criteria.

1. Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Oil, $40

Reduces redness blotchiness, wrinkles, improves elasticity

Free of chemicals or fragrances, cult-favorite Virgin Marula Luxury Oil  reduces fine lines, wrinkles, redness and blotchiness, while improving your skin’s elasticity!  If you haven’t yet heard of the Drunk Elephant Skincare line, you’re in for a treat.  Vegan & gluten-free it’s one of the fastest growing skincare brands on the market, primarily due to its philosophy of clean ingredients.

It feels silky smooth going on, and absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. I keep a mini bottle of it by my laptop and rub it into my hands during the day. Instant dryness relief!

TIP
Lightly blot a drop under your eyes and around
the crows feet area. It really helps to keep that
area smooth and hydrated during the day.

2. Pai Organic Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil, $28

Refines appearance of damaged skin, scars and fine lines

Very well-priced, the line was started by a woman who wanted effective, organic ingredients for her own problem skin, wrapped in simple no-nonsense marketing – thus the great price points.  This luxurious reparative oil uses the most concentrated rosehip oil on the market to improve the appearance of fine lines, scars and sun damage.

I love that you can try a mini version for $28! Score!  Consider this a Travel Size and a great way to bring an oil with you on trips.  We all know how drying planes and hotels can be!

3. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, $27

Visibly restores & rejuvenates skin to dewiness while you sleep

Delivered in a pretty little Indigo bottle, just apply a few drops before bedtime and wake up to freshly rejuvenated dewy skin.  Supercharged with a combo of essential oils like lavender, evening primrose and jojoba (are you relaxing yet?) this will give you a serious dose of nighttime hydration and restoration.  Buy the mini size if you’re new to beauty oils and aren’t ready to take the full-sized plunge!

The mini is great for travel. Planes, hotels and different climates can really sap the skin of moisture and leave it looking well… blah.  A little bottle of this in your bag and you’ll be a little glow-worm again!  Safe to apply to lips for extra hydration.

4. Caudalie, The Precious Oil, $89

For aging, dry, dull skin

Applying this luxurious, custom-made oil feels like liquid silk melting into your skin.  I found that it absorbed pretty quickly, and as claimed – it did give my skin a nice little bump of glow and luminosity. The Precious Oil fights signs of aging, dehydration and fine lines.  Nourishes and brightens the skin and imparts dewy radiance…. yes please…..

5. Vintners Daughter Active Botanical Serum, $185

Super-serum. Multi-correctional, restores balance, radiance, texture

The question isn’t “what does this do”…. The question is what doesn’t  it do.  First, let me say that this is my personal new favorite, and the one I’ve been using for the last 60-days.  I’m on my second bottle, but not because it doesn’t last.

Let me explain.  Oliver was in LA overnight for a trial, which translates to …… Me Night!! You know – chilling, watching exactly what you want, ordering sushi and having a mini spa-night.  Settling in to watch Downton Abbey with my air popped popcorn, I begin massaging my beloved Vinters Daughter Serum into my skin, basking in its luxuriousness and spa like scent.

Reaching over for my popcorn, the unbelievable happens.  Yes.  I knock the entire new bottle over – in the dark.  Liquid gold pouring out, dripping on the (also new) area rug.  Crap!!! I’m desperately scooping up product and slathering it all over my face, neck, chest, stomach – just so it doesn’t go to waste. I mean, wtf???  In the end, I lost most of the bottle.  So, uhhh – be careful with this one.

What it does:

Like I said, this is a super-powered serum with anti-inflammatory, skin-firming properties and majorly powerful antioxidants that work to restore skins balance, texture and natural radiance.  The smell itself is just heavenly and relaxing.  The oil feels light and luxurious yet intense at the same time.  Like you can really feel it penetrating and soaking into your skin to do its magic.

In addition to the benefits already listed, this super-serum also stimulates cell turnover, maintains skins elasticity, strengthens capillaries, delivers oxygen to cells and protect against free-radical damage.  Worth it!

My results over the past year

…definitely more hydrated, healthy and luminous sans makeup

Full disclosure, I am slightly kray when it comes to skincare….so I guess this is pretty much my dream job right?  Serums, oils, exfoliants, masks, peels, moisturizers…. You name it, I’ve either tried it, do it or use it.  I started incorporating Beauty Oils into my daily routine exactly a year ago during a trip to NYC and I’m just addicted to the results.  Aside from the intoxicating spa-like scents, my skin definitely looks more hydrated, healthy and luminous sans makeup, which is the real efficacy test.

Morning

After cleansing, I pat my skin somewhat dry leaving just a little dampness.  Next, I gently massage 5-6 drops of my current favorite (I have a few), VINTNERS DAUGHTER into face and neck in slow upward & outward strokes, then gently press it into the skin with my palms.  Get dressed while it soaks in, then apply undereye cream, sunscreen & makeup per the usual.

Evening

Same as the morning, except after applying the oil, I run my Gua Sha rose quartz “sculpty tool“ in outward motions along both side of my face.  The oil allows the quartz to run smoothly along the skin.

Side note: Gua Sha is known to relieve facial muscle tension, boost oxygen and blood circulation, help with lymphatic drainage & diminish bloat…. It promotes glow and has given my face a more sculpted look along cheekbone area & the jawline.  More on that later!   Finally, apply under eye cream, and a night moisturizer.

Try it for 60-days

Choose the one that best suits your skin-type, skin goals and that most appeals to you. Try it for 60-days and track the difference in your skin from week to week. I suspect you’ll notice smoother, dewier, more luminous skin. Results, combined with the overall luxurious experience of using must-have Beauty Oil – and you’ll be hooked. 😉

Shelli
