15 Radiance Boosting Foods

TOMATOES

Packed with lycopene (an antioxidant), tomatoes help protect our skin from age-inducing free radicals. Tomatoes are also super-rich in Vitamin C, which helps to boost collagen production – keeping skin nice and firm. Delicious in our Mediterranean Quinoa Salad

SWEET POTATO

I seriously luuuvvv me some Sweet Potatoes. Aside from being rich, sweet and hearty, they’re also packed with vitamin C – a nutrient proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by bolstering collagen in the skin.  I’ll take 2, pls….

CHIA SEEDS

Chia seeds are one of my Plant-Based faves for their deliciousness, versatility and ability to assume the flavor of anything you put with it. Chia seeds are gluten-free, high in protein and fiber to keep skin nice & supple.

They’re also one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which help provide building blocks for healthy skin, cell function and new collagen production – keeping our skin strong and wrinkle free!

Ginger is best known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as having a soothing effect on the skin.  They usually serve it alongside sushi – which means I always snag Oliver’s when he’s not looking. I’m an amazing wife.

OATMEAL

Another one of my favorites for their versatility, ease and good-for-ya factor. Oatmeal is a gluten-free whole grain and an awesome source of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants.

BERRIES

I mean – the fact that berries are GOOD for our body and skin, is just a total bonus. They’re that naturally delicious. Not only are berries packed with skin-loving antioxidants, but they’re also rich in fiber and great for keeping ya full!

LEAFY GREENS:

Kale, Spinach, Brussel Sprouts, Broccoli

Yup. If it’s dark, leafy and green – you can bet it’s amazing for both body and skin radiance. Greens like Kale, Spinach, Brussel Sprouts & Broccoli are loaded with inflammation reducing zinc. They’re also rich in vitamin K – a powerhouse nutrient when it comes to improving blood circulation (helps skin to glow).

CITRUS FRUITS

Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes – yummy citrus fruits that pack a powerful punch of vitamin and nutrients that help keep your skin smooth and silky. We like that! Citrus fruits have a ton of flavonoids plus a big bump of vitamin C, to help keep wrinkles at bay.

The easiest way to get a nice dose of citrus – is very fancy: Grab an orange, peel & eat.

CARROTS

Carrots aren’t my favorite veggie, but my mom & sister love them. Good thing, cuz they’re super great for the ole’ skin. Carrots are high in beta-carotene, vitamin A and antioxidants that are vital for healthy, radiant skin.  So – glow on little glowworm ;-).

Easy to throw into a salad – Walnuts are an amazing food for healthy skin. They’re a great source of essential fatty acids (fats that our body can’t make on its own).  They’re also richer than most other nuts in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation in our body and skin.

Delicious atop Banana Cream Pie Oats

BELL PEPPERS

Anther PERFECT vehicle for Garlicky-Hummus, lol. Bell peppers are also one of the best sources of vitamin C, which is the vitamin essential in creating collagen to keep our skin firm and strong.  The high dose of vitamin C in bell peppers can also help smooth out skin and lighten some dark spots.

Want more? Ok – they also contains lutein, which helps protect skin from oxidative damage, which can cause skin to become dry and wrinkled. No bueno. Eat your bells.
