Think the Damage is Done? Think Again!
You CAN Eat You Way to Prettier Skin in 28-Days
If you’re secretly thinking… it’s too late or…. there’s too much damage to my skin from sun, stress, or poor diet for there to be any improvement short of a major Laser treatment and an act of God – think again. Changing your eating habits can absolutely improve the Quality, Texture, Brightness & Clarity of your skin – no matter your age, or current skin status – in about 28-Days.
Food is the “Cake.” Lasers & Serums the “Frosting”
Our diet directly influences our appearance and how we age
Beauty Oils, Serums, Creams – are great additions to any skincare routine in terms of “frosting the cake,” as I like to say. Likewise with In-Office procedures like Laser Peels, IPL, Deep FX and the like. And while products & more aggressive skin procedures can certainly help reverse or improve the look of skin damage – it STARTS with our diet.
Diet is the foundation upon which all else is built. Once your foundation is in plate – polish-your-diamond (healthier skin) with a good skincare routine of SPF, oils, serums, exfoliators, masks – and if you can, a monthly spa-facial, and/or In-Office laser treatments, micro needling and those sorts of things as you deem fit! That’s the Special Sauce 😉

5 Ways to Eat Your Way to Prettier Skin
1. Eat HEALTHY FATS Like Salmon, Nuts and Avocado
Healthy Fats like those found in Seeds, Nuts, Salmon & Avocado are full of Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3’s are especially important in preventing fine lines and wrinkles because they REDUCE INFLAMMATION & PREVENT COLLAGEN BREAKDOWN. Try Mediterranean Quinoa Salad, with Salmon, Pine Nuts & Tomatoes – ALL SKIN-FOODS!
I made this Mediterranean Salad with Salmon last week & it was SUCH a hit! Quinoa, Tomatoes, Pine nuts and Salmon. SkinFood!
2. Eat ANTI-OXIDANT Rich Foods Like Berries, Spinach and Kale.
Foods high in skin-friendly Antioxidants, reduce inflammation and allow our skin to repair visible damage. They also assist with cell renewal and help our cells stay plump with water. Some Antioxidants like Vitamin C, can also stimulate collagen production – Collagen is what makes our skin look plump & younger.
Foods like Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, Beets, Spinach & Kale are great Antioxidant sources. Try a few of these easy recipes:
+ Get Your Greens Smoothie
+ Triple-Berry Bloat Blaster
+ Chicken Peach Arugula Salad
Energy-Bites with Fresh Berries = Fiber, Healthy Fats and Anti-Oxidants all in one!
3. Drink Your WATER!
SO good for your skin – water flushes out impurities and helps keep your skin from becoming too dry, cracked, and crepey. When we don’t drink enough water, our skin looks more dull, and pores and wrinkles are more prominent. Water will help your skin to become plump-in-a-good-way and improve elasticity.
2 Heads-UP:
- By the time you feel thirsty, you’re already dehydrated! So focus on drinking consistently throughout the day. Water, that is.
- ALSO – if you’re having a super huge sugar craving – chances are you are actually dehydrated. Staying hydrated will help curb those sugar-cravings.
Truth – I don’t drink enough water at all. I know that. I just don’t like it, so for me – this one is the hardest. To make it a little easier, I drink a lot of La Croix or Perrier. I like the carbonation. You can also make a pitcher of Spa Water and keep it in the fridge. Just add a few goodies like sliced cucumber, lemon and fresh mint for a little flav-ahh!
Plain old water bores the crap out of me. Keep a pitcher of Spa Water in the fridge. Just sliced lemon, cucumber, fresh mint & berries.
4. Eat FIBER Rich Fruits and Veggies!
Who knew that fiber is also great for our SKIN!!?? Why? Well, not only is it great for keeping our weight in check by helping us to feel fuller, longer – it ALSO helps remove fat, waste, toxins, and free radicals from our body – all of which are key factors in aging!
Good Fiber sources: Oatmeal, Chickpeas and Fruits and Vegetables, Flax & Chia seeds. Try Fiber-Rich Overnight Lemon Chia-Oat Breakfast!
Easy! Fiber-Rich Oats & Chia Seeds, this is a healthy, Skin-friendly breakfast or snack. Try!
5. NO Added-Sugar or Processed Carbs!!
If you do nothing else – Do This One!!
This is THE Mac-Daddy of them all & IMO, the biggest Game-Changer. ADDED SUGAR and refined carbohydrates like those found in Sodas, White Bread, Baked Goods, Fast & Convenience Foods, Sports Drinks and even many foods marketed as “Healthy” will seriously F-up and age your skin.
Why?
A diet high in added-sugar and refined carbohydrates fast-tracks the breakdown of collagen and elastin, the 2 elements that keep our skin plump, youthful and springy! You can tell when someone has a highly-processed diet. Their skin looks dull, lackluster and usually ages them before it’s time. No Bueno.
You CAN greatly improve the Texture, Brightness and Clarity of your skin by cleaning-up your diet, replacing a high-sugar / refined carb diet with one rich in many of the foods we’ve talked about in this post!!
How do I know? In part – because I did it myself.
My own experience:
I wrote the “28-Day California Sugar-Cleanse” because I had become acutely aware of the incredible poisonous, toxic damage that Added-Sugar does to our insides, weight & our SKIN. I’ve always eaten healthy, BUT sweets are my kryptonite. I love cupcakes, Sees Candy, buttercream frosting…..Snickers…. Ugh.
Long story short, I completely eliminated all foods with added-sugar from my diet. Even foods you’d never think of as having added-sugar, like spaghetti sauce and many low-fat foods. After the first month, I was shocked at the visible difference in my skin. It is markedly clearer, brighter and glows without a stitch of makeup!!
Just eliminating Added-Sugar made all the difference – and it absolutely can for you too. Hit the easy button – my Sugar Cleanse book, available on Amazon, incorporates ALL 5 of these Skinfood principles in (53) healthy, No-Sugar recipes. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Snacks.
