10 Curated Beauty Essentials for Travel. Soothe puffy eyes, plump + hydrate dehydrated skin + alleviate water retention from air travel!
Just the Best Essentials! And they’re all carry-on approved.
There’s nothing more disappointing then arriving to a romantic vacation destination – throwing on your way-too-cute-brand-new suit, ready to look ahhh-mazing at the pool with your man and……crap! Your legs, ankles and eyes are puffier than the Pillsbury dough-boy on a salt binge and drier than the dessert in August?? Oh, and with the dehydration factor you now look 1,000 years old. No bueno! Let’s fix that, shall we?
Dehydrated skin, water retention and puffiness are compliments of travel – especially air travel!
The puffiness is generally caused by sitting for way too long in an upright position, causing blood to pool in our leg veins. Tight clothing and too much salt also play a role, so it’s super helpful to wear comfortable loose clothing, watch salt intake – and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate the day before. Of course, it would technically be good to really hydrate the day of and during the flight, but honestly I hate having to go to the restroom every 20-minutes on a plane, so I usually don’t drink the water that I should. Truth.
GOOD NEWS! I’ve found a number of great products to help with the negative effects of air travel on our skin and body.
Having done my fair share of international travel, I’ve selected a small handful of amazing best-in-class beauty essentials that I pack into my own travel beauty bag time and time again. These are curated luxury products that I depend on to hydrate the skin, alleviate travel puffiness and water-retention – and help me to feel radiant, fresh, hydrated and energized for a great vacay!

Here’s why you’ll love them:
Air-Lite Lift for Legs by Legology
Relieves fluid retention and fatigue
A hydrating and energizing leg & foot cream with a cooling, refreshing sensation that relieves the fluid retention that makes our legs look puffy and gross. Very hydrating and energizing, it relieves fatigue in legs and just flat out feels good!
How to use it:
Use DURING or AFTER a long-ass flight (or after a workout!) to soothe fatigue and feel energized. You’ll love the fresh lemon scent, inspired by the island of Capri in Italy. Very fancy, as my mom would say.
Natural Dry Body Brush
Stimulates circulation & relieves water retention
Dry brushing reduces bloating, toxins and puffiness while increasing circulation. With regular use it actually improves the tone and texture of skin! We like that. A lot of spas use dry-brushing in some of their treatments, so you know it must be a good thing. Honestly – it just feels really flippin’ good when you get to the hotel after a long flight. It’s kinda like someone gently scratching your back – except it actually does something for you.
How to use it:
When you arrive at the hotel, start at the feet brushing upwards from legs to upper body in long fluid motions. I use 2 brushes – it’s faster. If you’re planning on showering, dry-brush first!
Kaya Jungle Body Oil
Gives skin supple, soft, hydrated, healthy glow
A completely luxurious body oil that literally melts into your skin leaving it gleaming & glow-y but not greasy! It’s a silky, melty, luxurious body oil packed with Tucuma (hydrating), Pacqui Seed (smoothing) Breu Branco (soothing) and Kaya Oil which is a powerful antioxidant harvested exclusively for the brand. Rich in Selenium, Vitamin E, Magnesium & Protein Energy that improves texture & tone of our skin.
How to use it:
After dry-brushing and taking a nice hot shower – smooth the body oil over your skin while it’s still damp! You want to seal in all of the moisture you can. Have a glass of wine and enjoy the evening looking beautiful and radiant! Truly transformational.
Coconut Melt
Multi-use for skin, lips, cuticles & hair
Love keeping this little gem in my handbag! It’s my secret little beauty weapon…. Coconut oil is amazingly nourishing for skin, lips, cuticles and they say the hair – although I haven’t had the nerve to slather it onto my hair just yet. Something just feels weird about that. This brand is a 100% organic formula that just melts upon touch – hydrating, soothing and nourishing dry, dehydrated skin. The brand claims that the elasticizing properties counter the formation of wrinkles, as well. So, there’s that.
How to use it:
I primarily love using this on my cuticles (fingers and toes), the dry edges of my heels, lips, hands and sometimes my elbows. If my face feels especially dry on the plane, I’ll pat a little under my eyes as well. Great multi-use product to keep in your bag all the time!
Aromatherapy Roller Ball – “Revive Morning”
Pink grapefruit, Rosemary and Juniper Berry essential oils
I love aromatherapy for its ability to create a feeling through scent. This particular scent is energizing, invigorating and bright, blended with Pink Grapefruit, Rosemary and Juniper Berry essential oils. Sometimes….well, a LOT of times – planes fricking STINK! I mask it by rolling a little of this amazing fragrance onto wrists, backs of hands and behind my ears. Aside from smelling delicious – it just lifts the spirits and makes you peacefully exhale… ahhhh…….. Worth its weight in gold!!
How to use it:
Roll a little bit of this on wrists, backs of hands and behind the ears for a little pick me up! It’s the perfect size for stowing in your tote or desk drawer too.
Face + Tresses
+ Kora Organics Lavender Face Mist
+ 111 Skin Sub-zero De-Puffing Eye Mask
+ Eyeko Eye Makeup Wipes
+ Eve Lom Kiss Mix
+ Klorane Dry Shampoo
Here’s why you’ll love them:
Lavender Face Mist
Triple purpose – refreshing face mist, toner, pillow spray
Don’t you just love the smell of fresh lavender? The lavender flower is actually proven to have relaxing properties, and this mist just makes you feel calm, peaceful, relaxed and refreshed.
How to use it:
I keep it in my hand-bag to use anytime I need a quick refresh during the flight. It’s also a toner & pillow spray which I love because of the efficiency. Spray it directly onto your face after cleansing and before applying moisturizer. Spritz a little on your pillow before bed for a restful sleep!
111 Skin Sub-zero De-Puffing Eye Mask
Cool + anti-inflammatory, dramatically reduces eye puffiness
This comes with (8) cooling eye-mask treatments in a pack – perfect for travel. This Eye Mask is so soothing and cooling – it relieves itchy swollen under-eyes almost on contact by mimicking the effects of sub-zero temperatures. They’ve infused it with a Tetrapeptide and Marine complex that is anti-inflammatory, nourishing and calming. The result? A drastic reduction of puffiness, discoloration and appearance of fine lines…. Yes please!
How to use it:
I use it under my eyes on long flights (I don’t care – I’ve seen people do worse…just sayin’), at the resort before a night-out to look radiant & refreshed and on those mornings after salty chips and too many margaritas ;-). It doesn’t need refrigeration but it does increase its efficacy – so throw a few into the mini-bar fridge when you get to the resort!
Eyeko Eye Makeup Wipes
Allatonin reduces puffiness + Grapefruit extract refreshes
These wipes come 10 in a pack & are so much more convenient than bringing bottled eye-makeup remover. They’re made from 100% pure cotton, infused with Olive Oil and Aloe Extract to condition & soothe the eye area. Plus, it contains Allatonin to reduce puffiness (yes!) and Grapefruit extract to refresh.
How to use it:
On long flights when you really want to wash-off your make-up, this is perfect. It says it’s for eye-makeup but I use it for my entire face and they’re great.
Eve Lom Kiss Mix
The bomb! Moisturizing & tingly with a little sexy iridescence
Love this stuff. Luxurious moisturizing lip treatment in a convenient little pot. It contains menthol which gives that cool, tingly sensation – like eating a York Peppermint Patty! It is so hydrating and cooling, repairs dry lips & leaves them supple and kissable. MUAH. This version is technically colorless (they do have tinted versions), but it actually has a little bit of iridescence to it. It’s really pretty. Natural but not too natural if you know what I mean. Just a sexy, iridescent sheen.
How to use it:
Use on its own or before applying lip color.
Klorane Dry Shampoo
Made with oat milk + totally refreshes hair
A must-have for stylish jetsetters like you! It cleans and refreshes hair, plus gives it added texture and volume. I love it for those times when I don’t feel like washing my hair but still want to wear it down instead of a topknot.
How to use it:
Spray it at the roots & scalp, leave it for a couple of minutes. Then just brush and style hair as usual.
