So, it’s been fricking hotter than hell here in San Diego the past few weeks. Hot as in both dog’s normally fluffy, silky ears are now in serious need of a good anti-Frizz serum. On the hottest day last week – as in 89 degrees on the coast…… we had our Holiday photoshoot for the site, because why wouldn’t we?
Sipping hot cocoa, (obvi), we closed all the doors, cranked up the A/C, wrapped ourselves in fuzzy scarves and pretended it was cold and Christmas. I mean – I want to bring you guys only the very best holiday ideas and cool finds, so a little heat ain’t gonna stop me. Can I get an Amen!?
Making’ it work people, just makin’ it work.
1 Piece, 3 Ways: Black Leggings
So here’s the backstory behind 1-Piece, 3 Ways. I have to pre-select my wardrobe for shoot days…. I mean, otherwise it would just be a hot mess and that’s no fun for anyone. Trust me. Inevitably I always gravitate to a few favorite pieces but mix-it-up by styling them with different tops, bags and accessories for a completely different look.
Bingo! So natch, I thought…
“Hey!” How about taking one staple piece that we’ve all got in our closet – and sharing styling ideas for 3 completely different looks?” Translation – triple your wardrobe options …. 1 Piece, 3 Ways. We love that!
I thought we’d start with Black Leggings because most of us have at least one pair of black leggings our closet. At least. After all, they’re a GREAT wardrobe staple and you can fo’ sho’ get a nice quality pair at a reasonable price. Score.
On-the-Go
On-the-Go is a catchall for daytime casual-cute! Think shoppin’, boppin’ around town, meeting friends for coffee, traveling….you know. The usual. It’s not meant for work – but obvi if you work someplace pretty casual and know it’s appropriate – you do you!
First – the leggings. I am OBSESSED with these Takara black leggings from Carbon 38. They’ve got a glossy, liquid-y (is that a word?) finish that oddly enough – is super versatile. Plus, they’re flattering as hell!!! They have become a cult favorite and sell-out fast. LOTS of colors if you end up loving them and want a couple few other options. The Indigo and Wine are gorgeous and equally versatile colors for Fall.
Pair them with this oversized soft, cozy ribbed funnel neck sweater by Chelsea28 and these Skechers Mules which are comfy and cool! This is my uniform for air travel…. it’s the big 3: Comfy, Chic and Easy to wear. Plus – removing shoes at TSA is a cinch with the Mules. No futzing around. Love!
Date Night
Ok I can tell you guys this because we’re all friends here, right? Oliver and I are serious homebodies. I mean not to sound lame, (too late) but getting FroYo and binge-watching “Married At First Sight” is pretty much our crack in heaven.
Like, we literally cannot WAIT to curl up on the sofa with the dogs and hunker down. So we’re making an effort to get out more, which means FriYay suhi date-night and “something fancy” once a month where I can get dressed up and “blow-dry my hair for 5 hours”….. as he would say.
ANYhoo……. Sexy is my M.O for date-night. I mean – we gotta put in the effort to keep it fresh, right ladies?
This whole outfit says sexy badass! Pair black leggings with this sexy magenta silk cami for a wink to femininity, then add a little edge with this super cool Mesh Moto Jacket!
This is an amazing piece. Quilted leather, with breathable mesh sides for ease of movement, and adjustable side waist tabs let you customize the fit. Oh – and it’s NOT expensive! Yes!
Finish the look with HOTNESS in the form of these gorgeous Over-the-Knee Boots, that have a stretchy back panel that will stretch to fit most any calf!
Working Out
Yup, the gym…. the reason we can wear leggings in the first place, right? If you think these are too fancy or splashy for the gym – think again! They’re eye catching and you’ll get lots of compliments – but no one’s going to think you did the walk of shame straight from a night out, to the gym.
They fit right in at the gym! Love it with this edgy-chic Balance Bra Top, in the same liquid-y material as the leggings. What I really like about this top, are the illusion cut-outs. It gives that little bit of edge and cool factor without just completely flashing your business to everyone. Ahh…..the memories. 😉
