Changing the Channel on Sugar-obsessed Holidays
I know, I know. I used to eyeroll when someone yapped on & on about not giving chocolates for V-Day because “Sugar is soooo bad for you.” I secretly thought, “What, now I can’t even enjoy Valentine’s day without the sugar-cops shaming me?” If you’re kinda giggling – then you know exactly what I mean, lol.
Yeah, we’ve all known that sugar isn’t exactly a Superfood, right? Sure. But it’s only been recent that information on the incredible, long-term damage that the ubiquity of sugar in our food system is doing to our mind, body and health…. has started to trickle down into the mainstream and grab our attention.
So, despite loving the little heart box of Sees Candies that my dad has gotten for my sister and I literally every freaking year since I can remember….. Starting this year, we aren’t doing it anymore. Silent screaming tantrum.
Changing the paradigm on the “holidays = sugar” channel……
I mean, if celebrating and giving to the people we love is about….well, expressing love – let’s treat them to something amazing for them, instead of something toxic that does little more than taste good. I’ll admit, it’s a paradigm shift for me too.
