It’s moments like this, that make me EXTRA EXTRA love what I do! I love sharing what I know, have learned, figured out – or have newly discovered, with all of you. I mean – we all learn from each other, right? It’s how we grow and evolve.
6-Months Ago I Kicked Added-Sugar from my Diet
now my skin GLOWS like a light, sans makeup
About 6-months ago, I went on a complete Sugar Cleanse – and literally eliminated all Added-Sugar from my diet for 28-days. That meant obvious things like chocolate-covered-pretzels, cupcakes, cookies (I know, I have a huge sweet tooth).
But it also meant a LOT of foods you wouldn’t think of like spaghetti sauce, bottled smoothies, some yogurts, protein bars, granola, etc. I then incorporated more SkinFoods into my diet. These are healthy foods like nuts, seeds, greens, berries, salmon etc known to promote good skin!
In a Nutshell, I Did 2 Things:
- Eliminated ALL Added-Sugar for 28-Days to: Reset my Body, Kick Sugar Cravings & Clear-up my Skin.
- Incorporated Easy, Yummy SkinFoods to really get my glow on!
I’ve since adhered to a VERY low-added-sugar diet (under 5-grams a day) and my skin has just kept getting better – as in, glowy. You can do the same!
NO MAKEUP VIDEO
Ok ladies – we all like to SEE results not just hear about ’em, right? I purposefully filmed my Dragon Fruit Smoothie Bowl video without makeup so you can see my skin after being off sugar. I’m wearing a little mascara, but that’s it.
The deets
The video is NOT beauty-filtered (none of my videos are). I use a basic Ring-Light for lighting but other than that – it’s just shot with an iPhone. Double-duty, the video recipe is packed with Superfoods that are great for glowing skin.
Apparently I’m Obese
Let me back up a sec, and tell ya “why” my cupcake lovin’ self stopped eating sugar. I went to see a Naturopathic Dr. in order to have bloodwork done, and to see if I was deficient in any particular area. Everything came back fine except my triglyceride levels were high, she said. “What does that mean?”…… Her response:
“Triglycerides are usually high in people who are obese and/or eat too much sugar.” WTF!????
I couldn’t believe it. Seriously – I eat pretty damn healthy EXCEPT FOR a sweet tooth that I don’t think twice about indulging every once in a while. I figured – hey I eat healthy & work out every fricking day. I can have dessert tonight. Yeah. Not so much.
That day, I started researching the effects of Added-Sugar in our diets, and Wow. It’s SO freaking BAD for us on every level. Physically – we’re talking higher blood pressure, inflammation, diabetes, fatty liver disease and increased risk for heart attack and stroke. Oh, and it’s highly addicting.
