10 SUPERFOODS You Want in Your Diet – Now!
Superfoods! The term is literally everywhere you look – but what are they, really?
Superfoods are mostly plant-based foods,
(with some fish and dairy like salmon & greek yogurt),
that are thought to be nutritionally dense and extra
good for us!
Superfoods contain a multitude of nutrients like anti-oxidants which are thought to ward off cancer, healthy fats believed to guard against heart disease, and our friend Fiber to guard against diabetes & digestive issues.
Below, are 10 of my personal All-Time Favorite Superfoods. The ones Oliver and I always have fully stocked in our kitchen! They’re super easy to use and incorporate into your daily diet plus they’re delicious, IMO.
Oh, I’ve included a few good recipes to get ‘cha started.
All of my Recipes are Easy, Healthy and use Simple, Real Ingredients. Enjoy 😉
10 Superfoods to Stock In Your Kitchen!
#1 Blueberries
Aside from deliciousness, Blueberries contain one of the highest antioxidant capacities compared to other fruits. Antioxidants help to combat free-radicals in our body.
They’re pretty much a staple in a lot of my Smoothies, Acai bowls and Overnight Breakfast Oats. Fresh or frozen – doesn’t matter!

#2 Strawberries
Super low in sugar, Strawberries are also high in antioxidants (among the top 20 in fruits). Plus 1-serving (about 8 berries) has slightly more Vitamin C than an orange.
Have as a snack, mix with greek yogurt & almonds, on Oatmeal or even in a Summer Salad.

#3 Banana
IMO, a must in Smoothies for creaminess & natural sweetness. They’re rich in potassium, fiber, helps us to feel full for a longer period of time and gives natural energy!
#4 Spinach
Known as one of the “healthiest foods on the planet,” Spinach (and other dark, leafy greens) are super good for our Skin, Hair and Bones. Packed with protein, iron, vitamins and minerals spinach is another “must” in my Smoothies. The taste is so mild & easy to disguise – it’s a no-brainer way to sneak in some of our daily 4-6 cups of dark greens!

Post-Workout Fan Favorite!
#5 Kale
Another vital dark, leafy green – Kale joins spinach as one of the healthiest foods on the plant. Packed with vitamins and minerals, it’s also high in fiber, protein, contains Omega 3 and is a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.
Kale definitely has more of a bitter, distinct taste – so I go easy on it in smoothies. I love it most in Salads!
#6 Cucumber
Cucumber is 95% water, making it an awesome detoxifier. Easily melds well into salads and Spa Waters. Refreshing and helps with liver and kidney function.
#7 Lemon
A good source of Vitamin C & Fiber, 1/4 cup of lemon juice (that’s only 4 TB) has 31% of our recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C, 3% of folate and 2% of potassium. I love squeezing it over roasted asparagus to brighten the taste, or in simple salad dressings.
Tip: When squeezed over Kale (like in a salad), the lemon works to tenderize the Kale because it breaks down the tough fibers – making it much nicer to eat!
#8 Ginger
I used to think Ginger was just “something weird” that they served with my Sushi. Nope, there’s actually a reason it’s there. Ginger helps with digestion, is high in antioxidants which serves to detoxify our body, helps to eliminate free radicals and is high in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Combine 3 Superfoods: CUCUMBER, LEMON & GINGER in our Detoxifying, Anti-Bloat Skinny Detox Water

#9 Greek Yogurt
There’s always a tub of unsweetened, Plain Greek Yogurt in our fridge. With double the protein and half the carbs as regular yogurt, it’s thicker & creamier than regular yogurt which gives it a decadent feel.
I love it in Smoothies, as a snack with berries & nuts, or used in lieu of sour cream!
These Yummy Recipes use 2-3 Superfoods in Each!
#10 Chia Seeds
We LOVE Chia Seeds, chez Pelly! I need all of my fingers & toes to count the number of recipes I have featuring chia seeds. They’re SO versatile, healthy & a cinch to use. Chia Seeds are jam-packed with nutrients. They’re an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, are rich in antioxidants and provide fiber, iron and calcium.
Chia Seed Puddings are SO Easy, it’s embarrassing! Healthy Snacks or Breakfasts!
